Warwickshire Freemasons provide £8,965 in support of local Hospices

Hospices in Warwickshire provide essential care for those with terminal and life limiting conditions and their families. These hospices often receive less than 60% of their funding from the NHS and require support from the community to make up the remainder of their funds. Warwickshire Freemasons and the Masonic Charitable Foundation are proud to have provided financial support to hospices in this category for many years.

In the latest round of funding the below Hospices have been chosen to receive grants from the Freemasons of Warwickshire.


Acorns Children's Hospice Trust – Birmingham (Selly Oak) - £1,500

Mary Ann Evans Hospice (Nuneaton) - £1,000

Myton Hospice (Coventry, Rugby and Warwick) - £2,970

St Mary's Hospice Ltd (Birmingham) - £2,095

The Shakespeare Hospice (Stratford-upon_Avon) - £1,000

Zoe's Place Baby Hospice (Coventry) - £400


The grants are provided through the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF),


These are the local recipients and in addition there are a further 212 grants to hospices around the country from Freemasons. In total £750,000 will be donated to hospices all over England and Wales this year.

A spokesperson on behalf of the hospices said: “We’re very grateful to Warwickshire Freemasons for their generous grant, which will enable us to carry on our vital work, in our local communities”.

This includes £300,000 which will be distributed between hospices that receives less than 60 per cent funding from the NHS. A further £450,000 will be provided for individual hospices across England and Wales via Hospice UK, the national charity for hospice care. MCF is partnering with Hospice UK to widening access and address barriers to local hospice services for local people who are homeless or have learning disabilities.

Contributions from Freemasons to hospices have exceeded £13 million in England and Wales since 1984.

R. W. Bro. David F. Macey the Provincial Grand Master of Warwickshire said: “I’m very pleased we’ve been able to assist all the hospices in Warwickshire. They do an outstanding job helping people with terminal or life limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families through very difficult times”
