Two Warwickshire masons, W Bro’s Bob Allcock and Bob Morris have been keen bowls players for many years, not only in this area but across the country. Nothing would give them greater pleasure than to see the re-establishment of the “Warwickshire Masonic Bowling Association”. Whilst several Provinces have retained, and in some cases, strengthened their own active Associations, ours fell by the wayside, due to the declining interest in the sport in the early 2000’s in turn underpinned by the historical image problem. The core ethos of Membership of an Association is to embrace family and friends as well as the “bowling mason”; each has its own programme of activities, which includes internal events as well as matches against other Masonic and non-masonic Associations and individual clubs.

This year sees the running of the (Covid delayed) 10th MACE. Trophy. In 2019, the 2 Bobs accepted an invitation to enter a Warwickshire team into the “Masonic Annual Charity Event” hosted on that occasion by Sussex Masonic Bowling Association and held at Worthing. The outcome was that, having teamed up with two good non-masonic bowling friends, we finished a very creditable 4th out of 20 teams as losing semi-finalists. Despite this(!) we have again been invited and have confirmed a single team entry to participate in this year’s event which is to be hosted by Hertfordshire MBA on Friday 13th August.
The 2019 event raised in excess of £6,000 for local and national charities.
If there are any Masons reading this and would like to take part, there is still time to enter another team of 4. For details, please contact:
