The 100th Festival of Instruction
Updated: Jun 3, 2019
The weather was fine and the prospects for the evening to come were even finer. Brethren from Warwickshire and other Provinces started to arrive around 5pm to enjoy the season’s last major meeting, after the Provincial AGM on the previous Saturday. Severn Street was prepared and the dining room was ready for 45 brethren.
The opening time had been planned for 5.45pm to allow the truly large amount of work to be completed and leave time for that pleasant interval before dining to socialise and enjoy the company, without undue rush. The pictures show the Provincial Grand Master and Preceptors and a group shot of all officers for the evening.
The PGM had agreed to be President for the evening several months previously, and judging by his commentary on the 2nd rising, and later at the Festive Board, he enjoyed himself, as did the Provincial Senior Grand Warden, W Bro Gary Macauley and the Provincial Junior Grand Warden, W Bro Avtar Panesar, who were also present.
When he witnessed the high standard achieved by many who had not been in the Craft for long, he felt Warwickshire Masonry could be proud of their efforts and the future was bright, building on the nett increasing membership announced at the AGM.
Brethren from several lodges contributed their time and ritual to a superb 100th Festival of Instruction meeting.
The GLoI-No.587 has been operating in Birmingham City Centre for over 150 years, albeit at different venues and offering fellowship and guidance to brethren of all ranks on their way to The Chair, and afterwards, as a template of Emulation Ritual.
Please check the yearbook for contact details and come along from September this year – on Thursdays at Severn Street from 7pm for an hour or two. You will be most welcome. [No regalia needed].
