Hertford Lodge No 3208 - Ladies Evening 2020
On Saturday 18th January 2020, Hertford Lodge held their traditional Ladies Formal Evening at the Tower Suite, Drayton Manor. The Worshipful Master, W Bro Stuart Thomas and his Lady Helen, were overwhelmed with the tremendous support, which saw 176 people in attendance. A superb meal was enjoyed by all, accompanied by their regular three-piece band “Tempo”.
W Bro Stuart noted,
"As I approach the end of my second year as Master of Hertford Lodge, I am extremely proud of the way that the brethren of the Lodge have worked together and have drawn the support from all over. I had the great pleasure of meeting brethren from numerous Provinces on the night including Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Derbyshire, Bedfordshire and London.
The highlight of the evening was the very great pleasure that I had in presenting a cheque for £2600 to the Macmillan Cancer Support representatives, Claire & Andrew Morden. This was in recognition of all the care that Macmillan’s does for the community. The Charity collection on the evening was for “The Holly Trust”, a charity helping those in the West Midlands with the traumas of Bowel Cancer. This collection, together with the proceeds from the Tombola, raised a staggering £1,565, to which the Lodge will add an additional amount to make £2,100!
The Lodge also dedicated our last two November meetings with a ‘Remembrance’ theme with Poems and song, and made donations to the Royal British Legion to the tune of £390. These fantastic amounts were raised through numerous Social Events, Raffles etc., and of course the generosity of our members, Visitors and their families.
Hertford may not be one of the largest Lodges in the Province, but without a shadow of a doubt, they must be counted amongst the most generous, and it has been my privilege to have served them as Worshipful Master.
