Easter Smiles 2022

Updated: May 23, 2022

UPDATE: Following kind donations of Warwickshire Freemasons, more than 3,000 eggs were purchased and delivered to children who would not be able to receive one at Easter. W Bro Andy Staker who led this successful campaign expressed his thoughts:

I am writing to thank you all for your fantastic support again this year. Giving up your valuable time, effort and at your own cost to help deliver 'Easter Smiles'. It has been a more challenging appeal this year, however, despite events globally that have put a strain on all our charity and with rapidly rising domestic costs Warwickshire Freemasons have generously given which allowed us to buy more than 3000 eggs again this year and distribute right across our Province to more than 24 refuges, and other organisations that support needy children. Thank you so much and see you all next year !!!

Last year W Bro Andy Staker became aware that in the area covered by Warwickshire Freemasons over 3,000 children were currently living in hostels, Bed and Breakfasts or Sheltered Accommodation through no fault their own. Some with single parents due to domestic abuse who require protection and some due to other reasons such as family hardship due to the pandemic causing their parents to lose their jobs and their homes.

Andy was completely overwhelmed by the fantastic response of Warwickshire Freemasons, their friends and family. This generosity enabled us to not only provide for those children previously mentioned but allowed us to extend the donations to disabled children in schools such as Priestley-Smith School for Blind and partially sighted children, Zoe’s Place who support children with cancer and other local charities who support disadvantaged children.

The target was to purchase 500 eggs. We raised enough to buy 3,000, which was truly magnificent. Andy was able to deliver many of those eggs and to see the “Easter Smiles” on so many children’s faces was reward enough. He is unashamedly back again this year and asks for your help to exceed last years achievement.

We will again, with the help of Morrison’s Supermarket in Coventry and Buddy Bags, who help to distribute to the more sensitive locations, be able to reach out to as many as possible across all parts of our Province. As this horrible pandemic has continued it has only increased the hardship of many families and children. You can make your donation in the same way as last year via Just Giving. We thank you for whatever you can give no matter how big or small your donation. Please make sure when donating you include Gift Aid as this will add a further 25%.
