FISHING FOR YOUNG CARERS COURTESY OF MTSFC
Updated: Oct 11, 2018
(MTSFC Warwickshire) Masonic Trout and Salmon Fishing Charity Warwickshire Branch hosted a coarse fishing day recently, for 12 children who are part of the Warwickshire Young Carers’ Association www.warwickshireyoungcarers.org.uk The venue was Lavender Hall Fishery at Berkswell and a superb fishery it was too. There was easy access to the water, which held a very good head of fish, such as carp, bream, roach and perch. All the children caught well, with one or two catching over twenty fish in the day.
The venue also had a superb café, which laid on an excellent lunch for all the children and helpers. At the end of the day, all the children were given a certificate, with some children receiving a medal for special efforts, such as being most patient!
We are grateful to RW Bro David Macey, Provincial Grand Master, for taking the time to come to the event and award the certificates. His interest in the MTSFC is much appreciated.
We are also especially grateful to all the helpers who came to the day, enabling the children to have a most enjoyable experience. The kids and helpers all said what a wonderful day it was. My thanks also go to the Lavender Hall Fishery, who were extremely helpful – so much so that the PGM presented a certificate to Greg, the fishery owner!
I am truly grateful to W Bros Nigel Bullimore and Ian Hart, for organising the day – their hard work and patience make it possible to give special children in Warwickshire a special day out. Naturally, I also thank the Brethren of the Province of Warwickshire who donate so generously to the charity, so that the youngsters can enjoy a fishing experience and lunch at no charge to themselves or their organisation.
