50 years with Boldmere Lodge – W Bro David Tadd, PProvJGW

A well attended meeting of Boldmere Lodge witnessed two ceremonies at the beginning of March. First we had a ceremony of Raising for Bro Adrian Hyde – expertly performed by the members of Boldmere Lodge on behalf of Alma Mater Lodge No 1644, with strong connections between the two Lodges. Bro Hyde will remember his 3rd ceremony for all time, particularly as his own Worshipful Master, W Bro Roger Cook, unexpectedly conducted him throughout the ceremony as acting Senior Deacon.

The Worshipful Master of Boldmere Lodge, W Bro Graham Holt, with his splendid team of Officers, had obviously put a great deal of effort into making sure the ceremony flowed well, and that the candidate was well looked after. He was ably assisted by W Bro Adrian Middleton initially and W Bro James Freakley who took over for the Exhortation and Charge – W Bro James is the main link between the two Lodges, being Junior Warden in Boldmere and Secretary in Alma Mater.

The 3rd degree was quickly followed by the presentation of a 50 Year Certificate to W Bro David Tadd, who has an extensive masonic career in Boldmere Lodge, and an equally fascinating professional career in which he rose to the heights of Deputy Headmaster in a Birmingham school with in excess of 1800 pupils. His working life did not finish there as he took on positions in the Bristish Red Cross and other organisations and is still working now on a part time basis with a firm of accountants in Coventry.

Following presentation of the certificate, a wonderful Proclamation was announced by W Bro James Dalton, Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, being the first proclamation since his recent appointment.
