RSS - Really Simple Syndication

For some time, we used the services of ChangeDetection.com to let subscribers know when a new item had been posted. Whilst it has given good service in the past, it can no longer cope with changes on our updated site and, accordingly, this service will no longer be offered. We now offer a replacement: RSS - short for Really Simple Syndication. It's a way of getting news to your desktop without you having to go looking for it.

Providers, such as the Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire, who regularly issue news items, can make it easy for you to keep up to date by issuing notices that a new item has been posted. All you have to do is subscribe to the service using an RSS feed reader. You can read more about RSS and feed readers here. You will also see them called News Aggregators; there's little or no difference.

RSS feed URL imageTo obtain the URL you will need to subscribe to our feed; simply click on the icon RSS News Feed on our news page and then copy the address from the page that opens.

Paste this into the feed reader you decide to use following the instructions given in the program.

A number of feed readers are available; most free of charge. See here for more details.

If you use Outlook as part of Microsoft Office 2007, you already have one. See here for how to use it.

Many modern browsers also have RSS capabilities, enabling you to add an RSS feed just like a favourite, and many ISPs have facilities to add RSS feeds to users' home pages (MyAOL, for instance).

A little research on Google will tell you everything you need to know about RSS.

If you would like to see click-by-click instructions on how to install and use one of the most popular RSS feed readers, they can be seen on the page you will find here.
